ATLANTA — Chris Carr sued Burt Jones, his main GOP rival in Georgia's governor's race, on Thursday, doubling down on allegations of campaign finance impropriety .

Carr currently serves as the state's attorney general. Jones is Georgia's lieutenant governor. Both men are seeking the Republican nomination in the state's 2026 gubernatorial race.

The lawsuit is an escalation of complaints previously made by the Carr campaign that Jones is skirting Georgia's campaign finance laws to give his gubernatorial campaign an unfair advantage, accusations the Jones campaign has staunchly denied.
