TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Temple Terrace residents faced city leaders Monday night during a town hall meeting to address growing concerns over harmful chemicals or "PFAS" detected in the city’s drinking water system.

The Environmental Protection Agency or EPA describes these substances as "forever chemicals," "widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time."

“The EPA also estimates that up to 6,700 drinking water systems nationally have detected PFAS levels that are higher than the proposed four parts per trillion future enforceable limit," said Carlos Baia, Temple Terrace city manager. "So we, Temple Terrace, are in this number."
