Following a rare four-week hiatus, Wheeling City Council is scheduled to return to business tonight, when a stack of new pieces of legislation is slated to come before them.

Council’s first regular meeting for the month of August was rescheduled for tonight because city leaders attended the annual West Virginia Municipal League Conference last week in Morgantown. City officials are expected to catch up on regular business during this evening’s meeting, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.

Millions of dollars worth of new legislation is scheduled to be introduced with first readings tonight. Among them are ordinances for a number of sewer system improvements.
