BENTON CITY, Wash. – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office had an eventful weekend when a man with felony warrants stripped and jumped into the Yakima River in Benton City.
Despite efforts from the Pasco Police’s K-9 crew, they were unable to locate him last night.
The search continued, and today, deputies tracked the man down and took him into custody.
When questioned by police, the man said he was “hiding in seaweed.”
In Finley, deputies faced a different challenge while apprehending a burglary suspect.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect ran into a ravine upon spotting the deputies.
To assist in the search, drones were deployed. The suspect, unable to escape, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
