HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech Huskies football has been picked to finish fifth in the GLIAC preseason coaches poll, the league office announced on Thursday, July 31.

The Black and Gold are fresh off the 2024 season which saw Michigan Tech get to seven wins for the first time since 2015 under second-year head coach Dan Mettlach, finishing in a three-way tie for third in the GLIAC with Saginaw Valley State and Davenport, playing to an overall record of 7-4 and 4-3 in conference play.

The Huskies collected 28 points in the poll, finishing three points back from Davenport and 10 points behind Saginaw Valley State, who earned one first-place vote. The defending National Champion Ferris State Bulldogs once again were selected to win the GLIAC, earning six first-place votes for 47 overall points
