SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County is mourning the loss of Sergeant Ken Salas, who was hit and killed by a motorist on Saturday morning.
Sergeant Salas was assisting with the removal of a traffic hazard near the Four Lakes exit when he was struck by a motorcycle. Despite being transported to the hospital, Salas later died from his injuries.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Salas followed proper protocols with his lights on during the incident. Sheriff John Nowels stated in a press conference Saturday that the incident appears to be an accident. The person responsible has not been charged.
