The training team at Cascades Raptor Center quickly saw Neil Patrick the Harris’s Hawk would make an excellent addition to its Free Flight Program.
Neil is one of three new birds the nonprofit welcomed recently. This summer, the center added Neil, formerly known as the Bay-winged Hawk, and two baby owls, one snowy owl and one northern hawk owl.
The juxtaposition between Neil and the unnamed snowy owl is stark.
Neil was trained for urban pest abatement by a falconer in Portland who surrendered the hawk to the Cascades Raptor Center to ensure he'd have proper care. Sidney Campbell, ambassador curator, said Neil quickly showed himself to the training team as a capable flyer fit for the Free Flight Program.
