LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The city of Lincoln is still hard at work cleaning up the mess left by this weekend’s storms , with the Parks and Recreation Department taking on more than 750 calls about tree debris as of Monday.
With 25 people working on the forestry team and several more focused just on park operations, so far they’ve completed more than 100 inspections and are taking on more than 200 work orders for trees on streets, parks and golf courses.
Director Maggie Stuckey-Ross says the “small but mighty” group manages more than 140,000 trees, so it can be challenging work.
“I’m sure a lot of residents have taken matters into their own hands and cleaned up some of the street tree damage that they have in their area,” she said. “If that is in the right of way we will eventually get t
