BOSTON —
The sale of the Boston Celtics will be finalized Thursday, and there will be a surprising leadership change at the top of the chain, our sister station WCVB has learned.
William Chisholm, managing director and co-founder of Symphony Technology Group, will take ownership on Thursday after the $6.1 billion deal is finalized. The deal was first announced in March .
Wyc Grousbeck will continue in his role as CEO but relinquish the role of governor to Chisholm, WCVB reported. Grousbeck was expected to retain both roles through the 2027-28 NBA season.
The governor generally has the final say on NBA team decisions.
