Vice President JD Vance faced criticism of social media for justifying shutting down Disneyland for his family vacation last month.

During a Monday appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” hosted by the wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, Vance said: “So we had the island to ourselves, which was very cool. I'd never been to Disneyland. Sorry to all the people who were at Disneyland for the longer lines, but we had a very good time.”

Last month, Vance made a politically charged trip to Anaheim, California, that drew public scrutiny and protest. Over 100 demonstrators gathered outside the Grand Californian Hotel and Disneyland, voicing outrage over the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) seized on the moment, posting on social media: “Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t."

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside Disneyland and the nearby Grand Californian Hotel, waving American and Mexican flags and calling on the vice president to “go home.”

Disneyland guests faced unexpected delays, protests, and ride closures, upending families' vacation plans. Vance's surprise visit triggered a wave of heightened security — from armed motorcades and K9 sweeps to ride shutdowns and redirected walkways.

Meanwhile, Vance's Monday remarks generated strong reactions on social media.

A user reacted to Vance's comments and wrote on the social platform X: "Impeachable offense."

"Shutting down an entire park so your family doesn't have to deal with lines? 'Sorry, peasants lol' - this comes across as completely out of touch with the working man," wrote another user.

"One day soon, JD's serial vacations, in which he one-ups himself every time--with luxury & privilege unknown to 99.99% of Americans--will manifest as a fat slice of stale cake that he'll then suggest the peasants be permitted to eat. And at that point, s--- will get really real," said an X account.
