The Charleston Police Department will initiate a high visibility DUI and child car seat checkpoint Thursday evening.

The checkpoint will be in the 3900 block of Seventh Avenue on the western edge of the city.

Additionally, a national law enforcement campaign to enforce drunk driving will be in effect from Aug. 15 through Labor Day.
