A Conover man died after drowning in North Myrtle Beach while on a family vacation.
Anthony Rowe, 69, was pulled from the ocean in North Myrtle Beach on Aug. 6. Rowe was taken to McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, South Carolina, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.
Rowe died at the hospital from apparent asphyxiation due to drowning, Willard said.
Willard said Rowe was visiting the beach with his family.
North Myrtle Beach is about 240 miles away from Conover.
