Rankin Inlet Mayor Harry Towtongie is determined to do what it takes to lower the number of motor vehicle accidents happening in the community
Towtongie said the hamlet is trying hard and will continue to do so until it meets with success.
"There's been lots of little accidents and a couple of pretty serious ones recently," he said. "We're thankful that everyone involved in these accidents survived, but if they keep happening, our luck will eventually run out and someone will lose their life."
Towtongie said far too many of these accidents are being caused by young people being careless.
Because of that carelessness, far too many of them didn't have to happen in the first place, he said.
"I firmly believe some of this is happening because of growing pains. Rankin is growing too fast.
