This year we have been writing quite a bit about the Target Cow concept . This topic is not only critically important to manage the cows early on to avoid disease, and the subsequent poor performance, but also it is a complex concept where Target Cow features are better explained separately with the proper research background.

As a refreshment, this concept is based on the hypothesis that only certain groups of cows (Target Cows) — those with higher metabolic and inflammatory stress — may benefit from additional interventions, beyond the optimal standard farm management practices, at specific times during the transition period.
