BELMONT COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - On Wednesday in Belmont County, it wasn't your average backpack giveaway.

65 youngsters on probation with the juvenile court system received backpacks filled, not with school supplies, but health and hygiene items.

The Belmont County Juvenile Court was able to provide them thanks to a $7,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.

The teens were invited to receive them at a luncheon featuring nutritious food choices. And a motivational speaker was on hand promoting healthy lifestyles.

We want them to go to school and be confident in how they look, how they appear, how they smell! And this program was developed so that we could provide those items for the kids. And of course it goes with our overall goal of promoting healthy children, familie
