COLFAX, La. (KALB) - On August 13, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that it would be taking over law enforcement coverage for the Town of Colfax.

According to Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain, the Colfax Town Council will reconvene at a later date to discuss how much funding the town will provide to GPSO for law enforcement services.

The sheriff’s office shared that Colfax Police Department employees, including the chief of police, have either resigned or been terminated.

Sheriff McCain confirmed with KALB that the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office will not be hiring any former employees of the Colfax Police Department.

KALB has reached out to Colfax Mayor Garland Brousette for comment on the developments.
