HUNTSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A small tornado touched down Tuesday in Geauga County, causing damage to several buildings, uprooting trees and injuring livestock.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado was an EF-0, with a top wind speed of 85 mph. It stayed on the ground for about a minute, traveling a quarter-mile. It had a maximum width of 75 yards.
The tornado touched down at about 8:45 p.m. west of Ohio 528 and south of Burton-Windsor Road in Huntsburg Township, about three miles northeast of Middlefield Village. It uprooted a large tree and snapped the limbs off of several other trees, according to the NWS.
The tornado crossed Ohio 528 and continued northeast. Three buildings on a property east of Ohio 528 were damaged and two small buildings had “extensive” roof damage
