The town of Long View appointed Justin Reid as its new chief of police effective Aug. 1.

Reid brings 15 years of law enforcement experience and a clear, community-first vision for the future of public safety in Long View, according to a news release from the town.

Reid began his career in 2010 at the Lenoir Police Department, where he served in numerous roles, including patrol officer, K-9 handler, field training officer, Special Response Team member and supervisor. He joined the Long View Police Department in 2020 as a patrol officer/K-9 handler and quickly rose through the ranks, serving as sergeant, training coordinator, and as major/deputy chief for the last three years, according to the release.
