One thing Burke County can count on is the Drexel Fair. This year will mark the 75th year the fair has come to town.
The fair starts Friday and runs through Aug. 23. It will be closed Sunday. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the fair starts at 6 p.m. each day.
“Seventy-five years of free admission, entertainment and the whole nine yards,” said Don Deal, president of the Drexel Fair.
Deal said people were able to dig up a lot of old memorabilia from the fair, so there will be booths in the exhibition hall showing the fair throughout the years. He said there are old posters, pictures, books and other items from past years.
“So it's pretty interesting,” Deal said.
“We just worked hard on the 75th trying to get everything in line and get it all spruced up for the 75th, make her look good.”
