Participants will pray at the Karbalaa Islamic Center before marching to Ford Woods Park.
The Arba’een march honors Imam Hussain’s sacrifice at Karbala and symbolizes resistance against oppression, unity and social justice, according to Imam Husham Al-Husainy.
Northbound lanes of Greenfield Road in Dearborn will close Saturday, Aug. 16, for the city’s annual Arba’een march commemorating Imam Hussain, an important figure in Islam. The procession, which begins at 1 p.m., is expected to draw thousands of participants.
In 2024, approximately 37,000 people from Michigan and beyond participated in the peaceful march, according to the Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center.
