MARSHALL, Texas — Marshall city leaders are considering tightening regulations on large gatherings after a recent “block party” drew more than 100 people and prompted complaints about trash and noise.
Council members said the scale and disruption of the event exposed potential gaps in the city’s existing ordinance. They plan to review how other cities — particularly college towns — regulate large, unpermitted gatherings to see if Marshall should adopt stricter measures.
The discussion will also explore the city’s role in preventing and shutting down such events before they get out of hand.
The city will discuss possible changes at its meeting on Thursday at 6 pm.
