Rockford residents have a chance to mark a milestone in local history at a riverfront celebration this summer.
The Rockford Women’s Suffrage Coalition is scheduled to host a five-year anniversary event for the city’s first public art installation dedicated to women and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. The event is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 16 at the YMCA, 200 Y Boulevard, according to a community announcement.
The celebration is expected to feature guest speakers and highlight the Women’s Suffrage Plaza, a $120,000 project completed by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial 2020 Committee, a coalition of civic and women’s advocacy organizations, according to the announcement.
