D.C. police announced a temporary curfew zone in Navy Yard starting Friday and lasting through the weekend to keep young people from gathering in the city at night.

The curfew zone covers a large area between South Capitol Street and Virginia Avenue Southeast, including Nationals Park and a part of the Anacostia River.

Starting Friday, kids aged 17 and younger are not allowed to gather in a group of nine or more within the Navy Yard curfew zone, starting at 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Some activities are exempt from the curfew.
