Arlene Clarke’s cycling routine — one the Omemee-area woman has held for years now — was disrupted for much of the past year following the closure of the trestle bridge over Buttermilk Creek.
A section of the 175-metre former rail trestle — about 15 metres in total — was burned last September, destroying the surface decking and charring some of the supporting structure. While the fire’s cause remains a mystery, the bridge and the trail approach had been closed while awaiting repairs.
