CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 20-year-old Upshur County man has been arrested on first-degree arson charges after allegedly setting fire to an abandoned home in Barbour County.

According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office, investigators determined the blaze, which occurred Saturday, Aug. 9, at a residence in the Volga area, was intentionally set.

A warrant was issued for the suspect, identified as Bricen Hunter Siron, and he was taken into custody by the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Authorities said Siron admitted during questioning that he set the fire. He is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
