SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — A case of animal cruelty has shaken the Southington community after a sick, elderly pit bull, Trooper Mo, was found abandoned in Memorial Park.
Local animal control officials say the dog was suffering from advanced cancer, and despite efforts to make him comfortable, euthanasia was deemed the most humane option.
Southington Animal Control said Trooper Mo was discovered very malnourished. A veterinary evaluation revealed a large abdominal mass and cancer spread throughout his intestines. The decision was made to put him down peacefully, sparking an outpouring of emotion and outrage from residents and animal advocates alike.
