An experienced Chinese climber died while descending the world’s second-highest mountain, just a day after she reached the summit.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Guan Jing was coming down K2, a 28,251-foot peak in the Karakoram Range, when she was hit by falling rocks in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region and died, the Associated Press , CBS News and The Independent reported. The mountain is known for its dangerous climbing conditions, made even more treacherous because of the frequency of intense storms.
