Some feel that the Boston Red Sox should consider adding a first baseman who was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals on Thursday.
Nathaniel Lowe, 30, was DFA’d by Washington, FOX Sports reported . Entering Thursday, Lowe was slashing .216/ .292/ .373/ .665 in 2025, signficantly worse than his career .263/ .346/ .424/ .771 line. Lowe does have 16 home runs and 68 RBIs this year.
A Gold Glove Award winner (2023) and Silver Slugger Award winner (2022), Lowe won a World Series in 2023 with the Texas Rangers.
In June, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden linked Lowe to the Red Sox as a trade target .
