A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of the alleged rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl who was found "unresponsive" at a property in Huddersfield and later died in hospital.

The boy has also been arrested on suspicion of raping another girl, aged 16. Police were alerted to the incident by ambulance crews at 11.36pm on Monday, August 11. The girl, who was found collapsed at a property on Sheepridge Road, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "The 16-year-old boy from Huddersfield was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape in connection with the death of the girl in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"The girl's death is currently being treated by West Yorkshire Police
