Four years after the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Taliban’s return to power, a Bozeman nonprofit is working to keep the plight of Afghan women and girls in the global spotlight.

For nearly 30 years, the Central Asia Institute has supported women and girls in remote, mountainous regions of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. But as the U.S. marks the fourth anniversary of its withdrawal this August, Communications Manager Seelai Karzai said the organization is redoubling efforts to highlight how Taliban rule continues to restrict women’s access to education.
