The Special Investigations Unit wants to talk with two OPP officers who fatally shot a 22-year-old after a chase that started on Lake Erie and ended in a wooded area near a Turkey Point marina on Tuesday.

Ontario’s police watchdog has designated two “subject officials” and four “witness officials” as its investigation into the deadly incident continues, SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon told The Spectator on Wednesday.

“None have been interviewed yet,” Hudon said.

Because the SIU has the power to lay criminal charges, officers are not required by law to speak with the agency’s investigators.
