This mangled wreckage is all that remained of a car which was sent flying into the air after a crash at 80mph – as two people inside miraculously survived.

Reckless John Wilds, 38, ploughed his Mercedes into a Renault Scenic while overtaking cars and running a red light. The Renault was hit which such force it flipped into the air and landed on its side.

The driver and passenger were cut out of the wrecked motor and were rushed to hospital but both survived. Wilds was unhurt in the crash which happened on Dinting Road in Glossop on December 4 2023.
