VERNON CENTER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- The former treasurer of the Vernon Center Fire Department had his day in court on Thursday after he was accused of stealing $300,000 from his department.

According to a release by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and first reported by the Daily Sentinel, 52-year-old Jonnell Rose of Vernon pled guilty in Oneida County Court on Thursday, August 14 to second-degree Grand Larceny, a Class C Felony. Rose was the former treasurer of the Vernon Center Fire Department.
