Costco will stop selling the abortion pill Mifepristone in all its pharmacies nationwide, the company announced in a statement Thursday.
The company cited a lack of consumer demand for the medication. However, the decision comes following a long campaign from conservative activist groups hoping to eliminate Mifepristone from Costco shelves.
Mifepristone was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration in September 2000. A generic version of the drug was approved in 2019.
