ST. LOUIS - Stray Rescue of St. Louis has reached maximum capacity at its shelter and is unable to take in more animals.

In a news release on Thursday, the organization shared that they were "forced" to enact a rescue freeze because every kennel, apartment and temporary crate was full.

To help alleviate the overcrowding, the rescue center will be holding two emergency adoption events at its shelter at 2320 Pine Street, St. Louis, on Aug. 16 and Aug. 23.

"Our goal is to get as many dogs and cats into loving homes as quickly as possible so we can reopen our doors to those still waiting for help," the organization wrote.

According to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, adoption fees for adult dogs and cats over six months will be waived during the month of August. Every adopted animal is microchip
