Young soccer players braved the heat and embraced the world in Front of Yonge last weekend.
The Front of Yonge Minor Soccer League held its season championship playoffs last Saturday at the Front of Yonge Recreation Park in Mallorytown, signalling the end of its season. The competition was held in scorching weather, the sun a constant presence, but the young players powered through.
“The tournament was a great success,” said Katie Burns, the league’s co-ordinator/convener.
“The competition was fierce, but the sportsmanship was even better,” she said of the 20 teams that played.
“There was a competitive spirit but with an overall positive atmosphere. It’s great to see players supporting each other, even in a competitive environment. I was so impressed with the talent on display. There a
