WENTZVILLE, Mo. – A woman running a daycare out of her home is accused of endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say Julie Ratica has operated an in-home daycare in the Wentzville area for a couple of years.

"This was a child that she watched only recently started watching her and the child wouldn't quit crying, so she got a little physical with it," St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Joe McCulloch said.

The probable cause statement says Ratica picked a two-year-old up by the upper arms and threw them down on their back in a pack and play. Then, it says she slapped the child in the face with such force that caused a loud slapping sound. And yelled at the child to "shut up." McCulloch says it was all caught on camera.
