COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Four minutes into Thursday’s 1-1 draw between the Texas A&M soccer team and Baylor, the Aggies opened the season’s scoring on a hard rolling goal off the foot of forward Leah Diaz. The attacker took the shot from a cut-back pass by Kaylee Noble off of a long throw in from Mia Scranton.

None of that play-by-play would have made sense in early December. In fact, not much made sense about the Aggie soccer program approximately nine months prior.

By mid December, the Aggies only had 14 players on a roster that perviously contained 32 and were down an associate head coach due to the retirement of Phil Stephenson. The 11 players that ultimately returned this season had little concept of what Thursday’s season opener would look like at the time.
