The minor hockey landscape in Ontario will look vastly different later this month when teams hit the ice to begin the 2025-26 season but for the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, the doors weren’t completely opened to the new reality.
The Ontario Hockey Federation announced in December that there would be changes to its player movement regulations for the upcoming season with the removal of residency regulations for age groups under-10 and above in all minor hockey categories, from house league to AAA.
That means teams can be completely filled with players that reside from outside of the cities they are representing. The BMHA decided to put some limits on the numbers.
“We had directed our teams, based on level, to limit the number of what we call out of zone players,” said Mike Pierce
