EAGAN, Minn. – Preseason football is only a brief preview of what’s to come this season.

These games are a time for veteran players to get their footing and make sure they’re ‘game ready’ for Week 1. It’s also a time when younger players are trying to earn a spot – whether that’s on their current team or another.

For the Patriots , the second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings is another step in Mike Vrabel’s plan.

This summer, the Patriots coach has said he has three objectives: build a team, earn a role, and prepare to win.

This summer, we’ve seen a more competitive environment in Foxborough. The roster is better than it was a year ago. The Patriots will also have some tough decisions to make when they trim their roster to 53 players on August 26.
