On August 6, 2025, Canada quietly confirmed something that will disappoint activists but make sense to anyone who values consistency, law, and reality. Non-binary gender markers will no longer be accepted on NEXUS card applications. If you apply for a card and don’t choose “male” or “female,” your application will be denied. Current NEXUS cards showing another gender marker will remain valid, but only until they expire.
