Gunner Stockton will eventually use his hands to take the snaps behind center and run the Georgia football offense in major showdowns against Alabama and Texas this season in Athens.

But for now, the quarterback is using them to gently pet, hold and rub dogs and cats in a video posted on social media by the Athens Area Humane Society, which said it has partnered with him.

The AAHS rescues and protects animals and unites them with homes and advocates for a “compassionate society,” according to its website.

“Whether you’re a Dawgs fan, an animal lover, or both, there’s no better time to find you new MVP (Most Valuable Pet) right here at AAHS!,” the organization posted on its Facebook page on Thursday Aug. 14.

Stockton a few months ago adopted “his own best friend,” from AAHS, it said.
