The Sylvan Lake Gulls are one win away from their first WCBL championship.
The Gulls won Game 1 of the best-of-three WCBL championship series 3-2 in extra innings on Thursday against the Regina Red Sox in Regina.
Sylvan Lake scored the winning run in the top of the 11th, with a perfectly executed double steal. Mason Quick singled with one out, then moved to second on an error. He moved to third on a wild pitch and the Red Sox intentionally walked Tripp Ray. During the next at bat, Ray broke for second and Quick swiped home to give the Gulls a 3-2 lead.
Mickey McClaskey pitched a perfect bottom of the 11th, striking out Daniel Castellanos to end the game.
