Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s sweater gained almost as much attention as his speech when he arrived in Alaska for talks with the Trump administration.

Eagle-eyed observers spotted what appears to be the letters CCCP on Lavrov’s sweater, which is Russian for USSR.

The letters were partially hidden by a black vest, but some have suggested the reference shows more nostalgia from Putin’s government for the Soviet era.

In terms of the meeting itself, Lavrov said Russia had a ‘clear understandable position’ and that he hopes to continue the ‘useful conversation’.
