ROCKFORD (WREX) — A man from the Virgin Islands has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison on charges of illegally having guns and flashing a gun in a Rockford restaurant.
Steven Baxter, a 40-year-old from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for illegal firearm possession and violating court-supervised release terms in Rockford, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois.
Baxter admitted to possessing a handgun at a Rockford Wing Stop location in 2022, where he threatened employees when he was upset about his order, including showing a gun at his hip. He also confessed to having a loaded firearm and another pistol during a traffic stop on I-90 in Kane County.
