PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Grand Canyon University athletics continue to rise in the national ranks, and with that comes stronger opponents.
GCU women’s basketball announced on Friday that it will play the South Carolina Gamecocks in a home-and-home series this year and in 2027.
The reigning NCAA runners-up will host the Lopes in Columbia, South Carolina, this season on Nov. 3. Then, GCU will host South Carolina in 2027.
The announcement came after new GCU head coach Winston Gandy took over the reins of the program this summer. Gandy joined GCU after three seasons as an assistant at South Carolina. He previously was an associate head coach at both Duke University and Rice University, and he also worked in player development with the Washington Wizards for three seasons.
