The Miami Heat have traded forward Haywood Highsmith and a 2032 second-round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a protected 2026 second-round pick, the team announced Friday.
Highsmith, 28, signed with Miami in 2021 and played four seasons with the Heat, reaching the playoffs each year.
He appeared in 74 games last season, starting 42, and averaged 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 45.8% from the field.
He set career highs in several statistical categories, including points, rebounds, steals, blocks and made field goals.
Earlier this month, Highsmith underwent surgery to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee, which the Heat said happened while he was training in Baltimore.
