According to UDisc.com data from 2021, Michigan ranks 9th in the country for disc golf rounds with 5.62 per 100 people. Maine is in first place with 12.38.

One local organization, E.U.P. Disc Golf Club would like to bump Michigan up in the rankings by getting more people in the Sault Ste. Marie area out playing the course.

There are no other commendable courses in the area unless you cross the river to Canada. There's a course in Saint Ignace, but the closest higher-quality courses necessitate a trip to the Petoskey area or all the way to Marquette or Gladstone. This area is lacking despite Michigan being one of the hubs of the sport.
