“They probably wanted this done two, three months ago when they first drafted,” said Pats general manager Dale Derkatch, who replaced Alan Millar as GM this off-season. “It took a little while. There were some things to work out.

“And I’m really happy for them that they can just come on in now and come to camp here in a couple of weeks and show their stuff.”
