(NewsNation) — Universal Music Group has responded to Drake’s claim its CEO was behind Kendrick Lamar’s monster hit “Not Like Us.”
The company’s CEO, Lucian Grainge, called Drake’s claim “farcical” and “groundless and indeed ridiculous" in a letter filed in New York federal court Thursday, according to Forbes.
Grainge said that he never heard “Not Like Us” or saw its music video until they were released.
On Wednesday, the “What Did I Miss” rapper’s attorneys filed documents requesting evidence that UMG promoted a “false and malicious narrative” that Drake's a pedophile, something claimed on Lamar’s song.
Drake is also signed to Universal Music Group
The UMG CEO said the lawsuit “makes no sense whatsoever” because Drake is also signed to the label.
